The Imperfect Hand (2015), Stoneware, Various sizes

Inspired by kintsugi,  the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer and gold dust, bringing value in imperfection. Embracing all of the faults and particularities that come with learning a new skill, I made this series of clay vessels by hand. Each was covered in a slip cast and then sanded to reveal and highlight all of the bumps, grooves, and imperfections of their making.
